This week I sent out my first ever press release.
Press release for Peoria Home’s Thrill of Hope Kick Off
Peoria Home is a nonprofit in Snohomish County committed to helping women escape sexual slavery, trafficking, and prostitution. Peoria Home provides a two-year residential program to survivors with complete wraparound care. We currently have three women in our home and a fourth is on the horizon. Two women have been in the program for over six months and the other resident has been in the program for two months.

The Thrill of Hope:
A month-long social media campaign raising awareness about the local sex trade and funds for Peoria Home in Everett, WA. The kickoff is a group of local citizens who are committed to seeing this darkness end in our community. We light our candles to represent our collected hope that this darkness can end in our lifetime.
How The Thrill of Hope works:
We invite people to light a candle that represents the hope they have for women who are still being sold on local streets and in local hotel rooms. Participants will post pictures of their daily candle to raise awareness and share our hope on individual social media outlets. Peoria Home also provides a personal giving link so we can track individual progress. We want people to know this problem exists and know how to help end it.
This is our third year of Thrill of Hope. We raised $15,000 in the first year and $25,000 the second year. This year we have set a goal of $50,000 and are anticipating a big year-end awareness and fundraising campaign.
Many of our past Thrill of Hope participants have become anti-trafficking advocates in their community. Spending a month speaking up for those who don’t have a voice is powerful. Lighting a candle to show your hope in ending this darkness can change lives.
