He leads

Minute by minute. Moment by moment. He leads.

It's not like this is new. He led Abraham up the mountain and Moses to confront Pharaoh. He led the Israelites through the desert with no end in sight. He gave rules they did not understand and that they failed to obey. He led Joshua to victory in the most unusual way. No doubt this power came from God.

A long time ago a very good friend pointed out Isaiah 40:11 in my women's Bible study. We were all young-ish moms who, looking back, thought we knew much more than we did. He led us then, even in our thinking-we-were-grown-ups.

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.

Now I look at these same friends and we're humbled by life's paths, but the words of the psalmist are still true. He led then. He leads now. He'll lead us no matter how much or little we think we know. Tenderly and in His timing, not ours, gently leading those with young.
