Love

February 14, 2019

Your love for me is not dependent on

            Who I am

            What I do

            Where I go

You love me just the same

Your love for me is dependent on

            Who you are

            What you do

            Where you go

You love me just the same

Because of your love for me I can

            Love

            Serve

            Heal

You love me just the same

Because of your love for me I can

            Know my worth

            Know safety

            Be a mess

You love me just the same

I wish I didn’t know what it was like to love someone selfishly. Unfortunately I do. I have loved people with the intention of them loving me back, but that isn’t true love. I have loved with the hope that my good works would be returned. That isn’t true love.

There is nothing we can do to make God love us more—he already does. There is nothing we can do to be more worthy of his love. This boggles my mind! It’s so counterintuitive to my understanding of love.
