Reprint: Mirrored: Reflections on Clothed in Dignity

Daughter

I asked you to do a thing, and I asked you to trust me. I am asking you still to trust me. Your worth is not defined by what you wear, or what you eat, or how you move. Your worth is defined by who I am and what I have done.

Your worth is in how I love you, not how you fail to love me sometimes. Your worth is in how I love you, not how you fail to love others perfectly.

Each day is new. My mercies are new every morning. Keep trusting that my plan is greater than your ideals. Clothe yourself first in my grace, not in jeans or a dress or a skirt. Mind not the number on the tag, or on the scale, or on a package of food. Feed on my word and let it sustain you, and rejoice in the food I have provided as a grace to you.

Your Father
